Arm Tights: Who Knew?!

Now that it is cold outside and we are all wearing sweaters, you may want to have the option of changing it up a bit. SPANX has come out with a new product called Arm Tights. To investigate this innovative product, I went to the SPANX store in Tyson’s Corner in Mc Lean Virginia. I was helped by Victoria who knew everything there was to know about the SPANX product lines and was a big fan of Arm Tights. She was fantastic!!

As you may have guessed, Arm Tights are made of the same material as leg tights. You wear it like a half shirt underneath your clothing. The bottom of the Arm Tights stops at the top of your rib cage, fitting below your breasts. The band isn’t a strong elastic so it doesn’t leave a compression mark or fit tightly. I found that it also doesn’t ride up and is very comfortable. 

Arm Tights aren’t like a sweater or pair of pants. Consider them as an accessory. Like most accessories you have to see how best to incorporate it into an outfit. For example how will the Arm Tights coordinate with colors and patterns existing in your outfit (don’t forget to include shoes in this too). You may also consider putting the them at center stage, making them the main focus of the outfit (similar to the idea of ‘statement earrings’). In other words, you have to make some effort. It takes a little bit of preparation and thought to incorporate Arm Tights into your wardrobe. That said, I am a huge proponent of making the effort to take stock of what is in your wardrobe to create outfits that work for you.

So, do Arm Tights give you a warm alternative as was the intention? YES!! ….and they are comfy!! From a practical standpoint, they allow you to wear sleeveless outfits that you may reserve for just fall or early spring. We like this because it allows us to repurpose and wear what is already in our closet, cutting down on unnecessary shopping!  Another plus, these tights are very thin (like tights), so they fit under blazers without being too bulky!

I tested the black fishnet floral Arm Tights with a black sleeveless blouse and received a lot of complements!! I don’t recommend pairing Arm Tights with a top that is full illusion because you can clearly see the band (unless you’re clubbing-then go for it!)

Lastly, if you are person that would rather not show your arms, this is a great alternative!! These retail for $30-34 and can be worn over and over to create a new look every time.
