Neutral-Monochromatic Looks: A Style Problem Solver for All

Why are couture houses so mesmerizingly consistent with the monochromatic look? Specifically, why do they all love the neutral-colored monochromatic outfit?

What makes this look so captivating?

Simply put, this look works for everyone.

Regardless of color of skin, hair, eye color, neutral outfits look good on all of us. A simple color story allows a person to stand out, not being encumbered by an outfit.  Not to mention, a monochromatic look makes a person look taller, and slimmer too.

Stylists love the neutral-colored monochromatic look too. We love it not only because it looks good on all our clients, but most importantly, because it solves many problems for our clients.

The first problem we solve is changing how clients feel. Clients come to us to change how they currently feel to how they WANT to feel in their clothes. They want outfits that make them look ‘put together’, classy, classic, purposeful, powerful. When clients know they look good, they feel secure, confident, and happy. The icing on the cake comes when people compliment them in their new look- this is reaffirming that they look good and thus builds even more confidence.

The second problem it solves is what to wear in the morning.  A neutral-colored monochromatic outfit doesn’t take much to put together in the morning, so it saves them time and effort. The only think that may change is the accessories. Even that is optional.

The third problem this solves is the question of which clothes will give a higher return on “cost per wear”. The cost per wear concept is the ratio of how often an article of clothing is worn versus its price point. For example, if you are someone who wears jeans a lot, a pair of jeans at a higher price point is a solid investment. Neutral-colored separates are another solid bet when it comes to “cost per wear.”  Cost per wear becomes particularly important for those who are building a capsule wardrobe or re-building a new wardrobe.

Solving style problems is what styles do best. This look, however does the work for us.
